1. Directions: from the I-10 Freeway, take
the 215 north to 2nd street and proceed right (east) towards
Arrowhead, then left on Arrowhead towards the County Government
Center. (Pictured above right)
2. The meeting will be held on the first floor
to the right as you enter the building.
3. If you wish to speak, ask for a speakers card
when you arrive, fill it out, and return it to the clerk.
4. Parking can be difficult, so if you wish to
speak, it is a good idea to arrive at least 30 minutes early.
5. Presentation: be clear and concise and
courteous to the supervisors, who have attempted to be fair and
objective. Study the issues,
and allow the opposition to take the fanatic low ground.
Our motto should be "passionate but truthful."
6. Compromise: we have made every effort to propose
a plan that will be courteous to the neighbors and still allow us to
remain in business. The county
professional planning staff is recommending our application, because
they have studied it in detail. Don't
offer a spontaneous "peace making" compromise that might make it
impossible for us to remain operating. It will play into
the hands of the opposition, who really just want us closed down.
7. Positive Value: if you have a story
about what the farm has meant to you and your students, tell it!
Those are the best sorts of testimony.
8. Family Confusion: a few of the
opponents are members of the Riley family. Don't be
confused. We're not trying to shut down Riley's Log
Cabin (Dennis Riley) or Riley's Frontier (Devon Riley).
They are trying to shut us down, ("US"=Ray Riley, Bea
Riley, Jim Riley, Scott Riley, Ryan Cross, Jesse Cross, Benita Riley,
Mary Riley, and all the grandkids). Sad! But
True!
Thanks! Hopefully, we will see you there!
