This tour has proved to be so popular that are several versions of this 'Homestead' or 'Pioneer' tour for you to take your pick from. (Sorry to cause any confusion)! This one in particular is operated from the Packing Shed area at the Crossbow Mining site by Ryan, grandson to Riley's Farm owner Ray Riley. Check out the others as well!

In large, pioneer families children do the work of Cider Pressing. Prepare apples first by 'mulching' them into juicy bits. Then, use of a sturdy stick will leverage strength as the press squeezes every last drop of delicious cider from the apples. Give it a try!

Rediscover the importance of Animals to an early pioneering farm family while at the Petting Zoo. Food, clothing, and other necessary items from these domestic animals make life easier on the frontier of civilization.

Dip Candles: Layer upon layer, a candle is formed by dipping a wick in tallow, another task performed by children, a family may use as many as 10 per day!

This 19th century Pioneer's cabin has hand-hewn logs, and dovetail joints neatly fitted together in order to keep the elements and undesirables from entering. Come inside and have a seat; see where the cooking, sleeping, and living a of Pioneer family is done.

The Chores will need to done as well, lend a hand and wash clothes in a basin, beat a rug with a stick, or stuff a mattress with fresh hay (but don't let the bed bugs bite).

This tour also includes a Hot-dipped Caramel Apple !
